insidethegames.biz was voted the “Best in Sports Media” at the Sports Business Awards 2017 during a glittering awards ceremony at The Brewery in London in front of more than 400 industry leaders.

insidethegames.biz was chosen first from a short list that included the Olympic Channel and Sky Sports.

Managing director Sarah Bowron and editor Duncan Mackay attended the ceremony and accepted the prestigious award on behalf of the whole insidethegames.biz team of Daniel Palmer, George Thorpe, Nick Butler, Dan Etchells, Liam Morgan, Michael Pavitt and Max Winters.

They are supported by a team of regular freelancers David Owen, Mike Rowbottom, Alan Hubbard, Philip Barker and Brian Oliver plus IT specialist Alex Crawford.

Bowron and Mackay received the award from Dan Walker, a television celebrity in the UK and best known for presenting Match of the Day.

“It was such a special day,” said Sarah. “To be recognised in front of all those people for the fantastic work we do was something really memorable. We are a small organisation compared to some of those we were up against but we proved that if you work hard and dream big then you can achieve almost anything.

“What was so nice was that afterwards so many people came up to congratulate us. They seemed genuinely pleased for us.

“The award is really for everyone that works so hard at insidethegames.biz, day in, day out, producing world-class journalism that sets the daily agenda within the Olympic Movement.”

Congratulations for insidethegames.biz flooded in from the Olympic world. “Well deserved - insightful, provocative and, rare in this day and age, usually balanced reporting,” tweeted Michael Payne, the former marketing director of the International Olympic Committee.
