The Baton containing the Queen’s message to the athletes of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games is now in Jersey after a visit to the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic.

Malta's Chef de Mission for Birmingham 2022 has said that the omission of shooting from next year's Commonwealth Games has "hit hard".

The Falkland Islands badminton team has made a formal complaint against Argentina after claiming the country put pressure on them to withdraw from the Pan American Team Continental Championships.

The Falkland Islands are claiming that their badminton team is being put under a "significant" amount of pressure by other nations to pull out of the Badminton Pan Am Male and Female Cup due to start tomorrow. 

The Falkland Islands will send a team of 26 competitors and officials to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games - including the hugely experienced shooter Saul Pitaluga and badminton player Doug Clark.

A youth ice hockey team from the Falkland Islands has won this year’s Copa Invernada tournament in Punta Arenas, building on the British overseas territory’s adult team’s victory at the 2015 edition.
