Townend Grand Slam dream ends after he is forced to withdraw

April 25 - Oliver Townend’s quest to become only the second rider in history to complete the Rolex Grand Slam came to an end today when a hospital examination in Kentucky following his heavy fall in the second day’s cross-country - when his horse, Ashdale Cruise Master landed on him - revealed he had cracks to his collar bone, chest bone and ribs.



Grand Slam on for Townend after marathon journey

April 21 - Oliver Townend (pictured), Britain’s top three-day event rider, is ready to compete for the Rolex Grand Slam in Kentucky after completing a 51-hour journey from his home in Shropshire involving a 14-hour, £1,600 ($2,461) night-time taxi ride over the Pyrenees and a chartered flight to Disneyland, Miami from Madrid airport.
