insidethegames.biz was voted the “Best Media Partner” at the 4th FISU Gala during a glittering awards ceremony at Sala Fucine in Turin in front of more than 300 guests.



 
Managing director Sarah Bowron, editor Duncan Mackay and senior reporter Michael Pavitt attended the ceremony and accepted the prestigious award on behalf of the whole insidethegames.biz team of Alex Bell, Liam MorganDaniel EtchellsNancy GillenPatrick O’Kane and Daniel Palmer.

They are supported by a team of regular freelancers David OwenMike Rowbottom, Alan Hubbard, Philip Barker and Brian Oliver plus IT specialist Alex Crawford. 

insidethegames.biz has worked closely with International University Sports Federation since 2017 and published Live Blogs from several Winter and Summer Universiades, including this year's events in Krasnoyarsk and Naples.

The judges at FISU described insidethegames.biz as an “Olympic media powerhouse”.


 

They praised insidethegames.biz “for its excellence and professionalism in journalism as well as their extensive coverage of university sports”.

Bowron thanked FISU President Oleg Matytsin and secretary general Eric Saintrond for the award.

“The media are often taken for granted and so it is a great honour to receive the Best Media Partner Award for 2019 from FISU,” she told the audience.

“This is not just an award for me, or for our founder and editor Duncan Mackay, but for the whole team - the reporters, the team back in the office - and there’s not many of us.



 
“This is an award for everyone who plays a part in everything we publish.

“We work from early in the morning into the early hours of the next morning to make sure that all the latest news is ready for the e-alert to be sent out every day, 365 days of the year.
