As exclusively revealed on insidethegames, Finch left Dexia Mons-Hainaut in Belgium last month to take up the position of head coach of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, who play in the NBA Development Basketball League (NDBL) and the feeder team to the NBA's Houston Rockets.

 

Finch, who will continue in his role with British Basketball in the build-up to the London 2012 Olympics, is currently mapping out a strategy for his new team before the draft on November 5.

 

He hopes that by accepting the Vipers position he has taken another important step on the path to getting a role with the Rockets or another NBA team.

 

He said: "That’s why I cam here, but I’ve maintained that as long as I’m happy coaching wherever I'm coaching, I'll be fine whether that’s overseas, the NBA or the D-League.

 

"I’m not one of those guys who is trying to chase the next job."

 

Finch's immediate priority is to get himself and his wife settled in their new home.

 

He said: "Everything has happened so fast.

 

"We’re still trying to get our feet under us.

 

"Logistically, we are trying to pull our life together.

 

"We've got stuff in Europe, stuff in Florida, stuff in Chicago.

 

"We're just trying to get it all timed up to come down here."
