October 6 - Australia's Jana Pittman (pictured) today promised that she will run in next year's Commonwealth Games in New Delhi as she aims for a third consecutive title in the 400 metres hurdles but that winning a gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics remains her top priority.

Since claiming her second world title in Osaka two years ago, Pittman has endured a torrid spell through injury and personal problems, includinge getting divorced from her British husband, Chris Rawlinson.

Complications from a foot injury ruled her out of the Beijing Olympics and a back-related complaint prevented the 26-year-old from defending her world title in Berlin in August.

She is now back in full training under new coach Craig Hilliard and looking forward to a heavy racing programme in the Australian summer for the first time in several years.

Pittman said: "I'll definitely be racing in Delhi and I definitely want to put in a solid performance.

"I just am very aware that the current world and Olympic champion [Melaine Walker] is in my event and a couple of the other Jamaican girls are also very strong.

"And I will not jeopardise my Olympic medal just to win a title in October next year.

"I've been very lucky to have already won two golds in the hurdles at the Commonwealths.

"A third one would be absolutely wonderful and we're certainly going to try, but not to the detriment of my 2012 chances."

Pittman will return to racing in early January and plans to contest some sprint events to build up her speed, before shifting focus to her favoured 400m hurdles.

She said: "I want to race lots, get lots of good, fun racing experience and get back to being able to race and enjoy it.

"That will obviously be determined by my body, because if it's not ready to run, I won't race.

"But it might mean for the first couple of races I might run a little under-done.

"I want to be competitive, but I'm prepared to race a little earlier and I think people will be aware of that.

"This is what I do, I love to race and I've really missed it in the last few years."
