OCTOBER 19 - THE British Volleyball Federation (BVF) have been busy interviewing prospective candidates to oversee preparations for the 2012 Olympics from the 120 applications received.

 

Applications came from every part of the World including South America, North  America, Europe, Asia and Africa.

 

'It was a tough job short listing and even tougher with the actual interviews' said Richard Callicott, president of the BVF.

 

The interviews were held over a week in London last week and now the
panel are considering their options.

 

The BVF are also continuing their negotiations with the University of Bath who have offered to build two indoor courts and two  outdoor courts for the beach volleyball programme.

 

The BVF are also keen to pursue their ambitions of qualifying for Beijing in the beach discipline.A special programme to boost the opportunities for this will be unveiled soon and the new beach director will take this into account on taking up post.

 

TheBVF are also close to finalising their arrangements with Sheffield and the English Institute of Sport for the women's and men's indoor programme.It is hoped to have the programme up and running by early December.
