Daley 1April 22 - British diving star Tom Daley sent out a major warning to his rivals ahead of London 2012 Games with a stunning 10 metre platform victory in the Diving World Series in Tijuana, Mexico.

A brilliant final dive earned the 17-year-old a perfect score of 10 and an overall points tally of 562.85, beating David Boudia of the United States by 20 points and Germany's Sascha Klein, a Beijing 2008 silver medallist in the 10m synchro, by a further 17.

Daley (pictured below) had claimed silver in the three previous legs of the World Series, demonstrating impressive consistency as the Olympics draws nearer.

He had already claimed a bronze medal in Mexico in the 10m platform synchro alongside Pete Waterfield, finishing behind US victors Nicholas McCrory and David Boudia, and runners up German Sanchez and Ivan Garcia of Mexico.

However, the third place was sufficient to ensure the Britons (pictured top) claimed the overall title.

Daley was able to take advantage of the absence in Tijuana of the world's top diver, China's Qiu Bo, the reigning world champion and favourite heading into London.

It also served as the perfect riposte to his coach, Alexei Evangulov, who had claimed in February that Daley's media commitments were threatening his chances of becoming a top diver.

In the other events, Qin Kai of China, the Beijing 2008 3m springboard synchro champion, comfortably beat Russia's Ilya Zakharov and Matthieu Rosset of France to claim another title in the 3m springboard synchro.

Kai and Yutong Luo then claimed the men's 3m springboard synchro gold ahead of Britain's Chris Mears and Nick Robinson-Baker, and the Ukrainian duo of Ilya Kvasha and Oleksiy Prygorov.

In the women's events, China again claimed gold, with Zi He finishing ahead of Italy's Tania Cagnotto and American Christina Loukas in the 3m springboard.

Multiple Pan American Games gold medallist Paola Espinosa of Mexico won the women's 10m platform ahead of Canada's Meaghan Benfeito and Nora Subschinski of Germany.

Zi He was also victorious in the women's 3m springboard synchro alongside compatriot Minxia Wu, finishing ahead of runners-up Loukas and Kassidy Cook of the US with Germans Katja Dieckow and Uschi Freitag in third.

Olympic gold medallist Ruolin Chen and Hao Wang also claimed another gold for China in the women's 10m platform synchro, with Espinosa and compatriot Alejandra Orozco finishing second, and Britain's Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch third.
