Jason Lamy_ChappuisDecember 19 - The latest stage of the Nordic World Cup was held in Seefeld, Austria, over the weekend at the venue which will host Nordic disciplines and biathlon during the the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games next month.

The first ever Winter Youth Olympics is being held in Innsbruck, with nordic and biathlon taking place in Seefeld during the Games, which run from January 13 until 22.

America's Jason Lamy Chappuis, the World Cup Nordic Combined champion, stretched his unbeaten run to four events after claiming the Gundersen 10-kilometre competition at the venue.

Chappuis also won the team sprint title with Sebastien Lacroix, and he now leads the overall standings with 554 points ahead of Germany's Tino Edelmann.

The series continues in Schonach, Germany, on January 7, but less than a week later Seefeld will see the start of the first ever Winter Youth Olympics.

The success of the weekend's event is a boost for Innsbruck 2012 organisers, showing that the facilities for the event are ready and preparations on track ahead of the opening ceremony.

The Seefeld World Cup weekend was brought forward to December instead of being held in January because of the Youth Olympics.
