Milad Vaziri_26-10-11October 26 - Six Asian nations have qualified for the London 2012 Olympic Games after the Continental Qualifying Archery Tournament took place in Tehran, Iran this week.


Athletes from the host nation, along with contenders from Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Mongolia and Malaysia all won spots at London 2012.

Iran's Milad Vaziri (pictured) defeated Witthaya Thamwong of Thailand 6-2 in their final, whilst Lee Kar Wai Calvin of Hong Kong also secured a place despite losing in the third place play off.

In the women's category, top seed Bishindee Urantungalag of Mongolia and Indonesia's Ika Yuliana Rochmawati both qualified for London 2012 after reaching the final, where the latter won 6-5.

The final quota spot went to Malaysia's Syafiqah Hashim, who defeated home seed Sareh Asadi 7-3.

Those athletes who missed out in Tehran have one more chance to qualify for London 2012 at the world qualifier in Ogden, United States, next June.
