dilan_pereraMay 31 - Dilan Perera, President of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation, has been announced as the chairman of the central segment of the Asian Volleyball Confederation.


The decision was made following a meeting of Central Asian countries, where it was decided that the secretariat of the region should be in Sri Lanka.

The announcements represent a significant boost for one of Sri Lanka's most popular sports, with Susil Ranasinghe confirmed as the secretary general of the Confederation.

The secretariat will be responsible for a number of functions, including organisation of zonal competitions for youth teams and the region's beach volleyball championships, as well as a number of other regional tournaments.
