Judo BritishMay 11 - Nearly 150 British competitors will take part in the 2011 London British Open this weekend.


A total of 400 judoka from 24 countries will embark on the British capital for the latest stage of the European Judo Union's European Cup circuit.

Sophie Cox, who won bronze at the 2011 European Championships, will be competing alongside Craig Fallon, Winston Gordon and Peter Cousins.

Ben Quilter, the 2011 World Games winner, will also be in action with colleague Joe Ingram.

Scotland will be sending internationals including James Millar, Matthew Purssey, Chris Sherrington, Sarah Adlington and James Austin.

Gregg Varey, Kane Charig, Megan Fletcher and Tom Reed will be present on behalf of Team Bath, whilst Camberley will send the likes of Nathon Burns and Danny Williams.

From Lancashire, David Groom, Michael Horley, Danny Harper and Matthew Clempner will be competing, and seven judoka from Britain's junior team will be in action after their success at the Junior European Cup in Portugal.
