Shriever quickly stamped her authority on the first race and did not look back, winning gold in 36.519sec in the Turkish city.

Zoé Claessens of Switzerland passed American rider Alise Willoughby in the last straight to seal silver in 36.976.

Willoughby had to settle for bronze in 37.035, edging out Canadian Molly Simpson.

There was more success for Shriever yesterday as she held off Willoughby to clinch a second successive win in 36.493.

Willoughby crossed the finish line in 36.845 for silver, followed by 27-time UCI BMX Racing World Cup winner Laura Smulders of The Netherlands who bagged bronze in 37.010.

The opening two men's races were won by Frenchmen Romain Mahieu and Joris Daudet.

Mahieu won the first of those, clinching top spot in 32.626.

Colombia’s Diego Arboleda came second in 33.001 before Daudet crossed in 33.243 for bronze after showing great track speed and skill to pass Olympic gold medallist Niek Kimmann of The Netherlands.

Four French riders were amongst the eight finalists in round two yesterday.

This time, Daudet came out on top, denying Mahieu another win as he finished in 32.766.

Mahieu sealed silver in 33.019, while Australia’s Izaac Kennedy completed the podium after crossing in 33.223 for bronze.
