The medals of the Chengdu 2021 International University Sports Federation (FISU) World University Games have been named "Rongguang".

Also called the Lights of Chengdu, it represents the sporting spirit and the ancient culture and vision of the Sichuan capital.

A golden sun bird, like the Chengdu 2021 logo, can be seen on the medals.

In the design on the medals, the sun bird is seen getting ready for flight, in a nod to the event’s slogan "Chengdu Makes Dreams Come True."

It was designed by a team from a company called Guojin Gold.

Chief designer Ying Zhou said it represents China's 5,000-year-old history and Chengdu's readiness to host the Games.

The back side of it will see some of Chengdu’s most iconic buildings.

Chengdu 2021 is scheduled to take place between July 28 and August 8 after being delayed by two years because of COVID-19.

A total of eighteen sports are on the programme for the latest FISU Games, which will be the third in China after Beijing 2011 and Shenzhen 2011.
