Double Tokyo 2020 Paralympics gold medallist Stickney, an S7 swimmer, clocked 5min 3.16sec to score 1,005 points, leading a podium sweep for the US at the Jean K Freeman Aquatic Center.

"I’m happy with how it went," she said.

"I’ve had a lot of difficulties training in the last year, so I’m happy I was able to finish the race and do really well.

"It’s amazing to be here and just be able to see everyone and spend time with them.

"It’s been a lot of fun to be part of Team USA."

S7 swimmer McKenzie Coan finished second in 5:14.85 for 938 points, while S13 swimmer Olivia Chambers was third with 911 from 4:33.75.

Two American athletes set national records en route to winning their races.

Elizabeth Marks, an S6 swimmer, clocked 1:13:16 to win the women's 100m freestyle with 967 points, with six-time Paralympic medallist Coan earning silver with 938 points from a time of 1:11.97.

A national record was also beaten in the men's 100m breaststroke in the SB6 class, with Morgan Ray triumphing in 1:22.99 for 906 points.

Tokyo 2020 SB13 silver medallist David Abrahams was second with 847 points from 1:09.79.

Marks additionally won the women's 50m butterfly in 37.00sec to score 877 points, and shared the women's 200m individual medley gold with Chambers as both scored 953.

SB13 swimmer Colleen Young was among the other American winners in the women's 100m breaststroke with 950 points from 1:17.08, beating Brazil's SB12 athlete Maria Carolina Gomes Santiago by just one point after she clocked 1:16.82.

Piper Sadowski, an S14 athlete, triumphed in the women's 200m freestyle for the US with 690 from 2:30.19, S5 swimmer Abbas Karimi won the men's 50m butterfly with a 37.46 effort to score 795, Elizabeth Smith from the S9 class was a comfortable winner with 898 points from a 1:09.09 women's 100m butterfly final, and S14 athlete Lawrence Sapp triumphed in the men's 100m butterfly with 965 and a time of 57.16.

Christie Raleigh Crossley was the other American winner, the S9 athlete winning the women's 100m backstroke with 1,015 from 1:10.01.

France's Ugo Didier starred in Minneapolis, earning golds in the men's 50m, 100m and 400m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 200m individual medley.

Mexican athletes also fared well, winning seven gold medals.

Nely Edith Miranda Herrera triumphed in the women's 50m breaststroke and 150m individual medley, Arnulfo Castorena was victorious in the men's 50m breaststroke, and Angel De Jesus Camacho Ramirez won the men's 200m freestyle and 50m backstroke.

The other Mexican gold medallists were Karina Amayrani Hernandez Torres in the women's 50m backstroke and Christopher Gregorio Tronco Sanchez in the men's 150m individual medley.

Gomes Santiago was the other winner from the fourth event on this year's World Series, earning women's 50m freestyle gold.

The World Series is set to move to Asia for its next stop, with Singapore scheduled to host a meet from Saturday (April 29) until Monday (May 1).
