Bruce Mouat and Jennifer Dodds have big boots to fill as they attempt to defend Scotland's title at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship set to run from tomorrow until April 29 in South Korea.

Last year's title was won by Beijing 2022 champion Eve Muirhead and Olympic silver medallist Bobby Lammie.

Mouat and Dodds are one of the favoured pairs to take gold at the Gangneung Curling Centre following their 2021 triumph together.

The venue staged the Pyeongchang 2018 curling events and was also where the discipline made its Olympic debut.

The competition is set to be contested by 20 teams split into two round-robin groups.

Among the contenders for the crown are Switzerland which has won the mixed doubles world title seven times since the tournament's inception in 2008 making it the strongest nation historically.

Husband and wife combination Yannick Schwaller and Briar Schwaller-Huerlimann will represent the country in Gangneung and have both tasted recent success on the world stage.

Schwaller-Huerlimann was part of Silvana Tirinzoni's triumphant side at the Women's World Championships last month while men's skip Schwaller defeated Italy to take bronze in the men's edition.

Another husband and wife team with the potential to secure a podium spot are Canada's Jennifer Jones and Brent Laing.

The two emerged victorious in Canada's national competition earning their spot for this year's tournament.

Combined, Jones and Laing have won 12 Canadian curling championships and seven world titles, with Jones also boasting Olympic gold for her women's team triumph at Sochi 2014.

Reigning Olympic mixed doubles champion Stefania Constantini will also be one to watch.

The Italian helped her country to its first-ever curling gold in Beijing and will take to the ice alongside new partner Sebastiano Arman.
