After winning the relay title yesterday, Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen of Norway added to his tally by claiming the men's 15 kilometres mass start gold at the International Biathlon Union World Cup in Östersund.

This was his first individual win of the season as he skied to victory after a clean shooting performance.

The Beijing 2022 champion clocked 35min 17sec, for his third gold medal in a span of one week.

The 30-year-old won a single mixed relay title last Sunday in Nové Město na Moravě.

Compatriot Johannes Dale got he silver medal after a time of 35:26.1 while bronze went to Éric Perrot of France, who clocked 35:29.3.

"What can I say," Christiansen said after the win.

"I felt really good and wanted to take some advantage of the physical shape, not only ski easily in a big group.

"I made it a tough race for myself because going in front was so tough to keep the gap.

"The shooting, like yesterday was a really good feeling to have some guys just five to ten seconds behind…The ice-cold last shooting is back!"

Three-time Olympic bronze medallist Dorothea Wierer of Italy secured the women's 12.5 km mass start title in the Swedish city.

Wierer also ha a perfect day at the shooting range and crossed the line in 32:58.5.

The multiple world champion has Julia Simon of France to thank for the title.

Simon, who was leading, missed her last shot and went to the penalty loop and finally finished third with a time 32:09.6.

Simon’s error helped compatriot Lou Jeanmonnot to win the silver medal, clocking 6.3 after the leader.
