Norway claimed the men's and women's relay titles at the International Biathlon Union World Cup in Östersund.

Olympic champion Marte Olsbu Røiseland led from the front with Juni Arnekleiv, Ida Lien and Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold to take the women's 4x6 kilometres relay gold in 1hour 08:00.7min.

Norway only used four spare rounds on their way to victory on a day that saw light winds during shooting.

With seven spare rounds, France finished second, 15.2sec behind while Germany claimed the bronze medal 27.2sec behind the leaders.

This was only their second win of the season.

Even at the World Championships this year, the team managed to finish only sixth.

"It was really important," Røiseland  said after the win.

"We know that we are good enough to fight for the podium but the relay is not so easy sometimes.

"We have struggled a lot this season with the relay but today we were the best.

"I am so happy for the team."

Among men, Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen stood out for the Scandinavians in the men's 4x7.5km relay.

The 30-year-old Beijing 2022 champion produced a stunning penultimate loop and added a clean standing performance for the Norwegians.

Christiansen and teammates Endre Strømsheim, Vebjørn Sørum and Johannes Dale crossed the line in 1:08:10.5 for the title.

France finished second 22.5sec later while Germany completed the final podium spot with an effort of 1:09:49.8.

Victory in Sweden meant that Norway won the relay Crystal Globe for the sixth consecutive season.
