Vinay Kumar Joshi has taken over as President of the Ju-Jitsu Association of India (JAI) after prevailing in an election for the position.

Amir Arora and Raziuddin Shahed were also successful as they were appointed to the respective roles of secretary general and treasurer.

The elections took place during the JAI's Annual General Meeting in Delhi's Conference Hall of the Global Indian International School.

They were conducted in accordance with the JAI Constitution and with the rules and regulations of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in India.

It took place by secret ballot under the supervision of Meharman Singh Koranga and Sanjay Melkani of Uttarakhand's Bar Council and High Court respectively.

The electoral college, documents of the representatives, and valid nomination forms were scrutinised before the final decision was declared.

Representatives from a total of 24 JAI affiliated member state associations were present.

Kumar Joshi is set to serve a four-year term until 2027 alongside Praveen Ranka who was appointed senior vice-president.

Amit Kumar Chourasiya, Tarsem Sharma, Vijendra Kharsodiya, and Abdul Latheef were all elected as vice-presidents.

Following the elections, Ju-Jitsu International Federation director general Joachim Thumfart addressed the conference remotely to give his best wishes to the newly elected Board members of the association.

The members decided to conduct a selection trial event for the national team which decided the athletes that represented India at the recent Ju-Jitsu Asian Championships in Bangkok.

India's National Ju-Jitsu Championships was awarded to the Madhya Pradesh Ju-Jitsu Association and is scheduled to take place in Dewas from March 27 to 31.
