Two-time Olympic medallist badminton player PV Sindhu of India has decided to part ways with South Korean coach Park Tae-sang.

Park announced the decision on his Instagram page, saying he feels "responsible" for disappointing results in recent outings.

"I'd like to talk about my relationship with Sindhu , which many people have asked about," Park said.

"She has made disappointing moves in all recent matches, and as a coach, I feel responsible.

"So she wanted a change and said she would find a new coach. I decided to respect and follow her decision.

"I'm sorry that I can't be with her until the next Olympics, but now I'm going to support her from afar.

"I will remember every moment with her."

The South Korean was instrumental in helping Sindhu secure bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

He coached 27-year-old when she won gold at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

While a stress fracture on her ankle suffered in the English city kept her away from the courts for over five months, Sindhu’s start to 2023 has been far from ideal with first round exits at the Malaysia Open and India Open.

She did win a bronze at the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship, but Park was not travelling with her.

The decision comes with the Paris 2024 qualification events, including the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games, set to start soon.

It has been learnt that former All-England champion Hafiz Hashim of Malaysia will help Sindhu.

Park, however, is set to remain in India for now, and will guide a mix of junior and senior players.
