New Zealand recorded a 71-run win over Bangladesh before the West Indies defeated Ireland by six wickets.

Suzie Bates starred for New Zealand with the bat, scoring 81 off 61 as they set up a target of 190, losing only three wickets.

The highest total of the tournament so far proved difficult for Bangladesh who were restricted for 118 for eight after 20 overs.  

For the White Ferns, opener Bates was sensational, and became the first player to pass 1000 runs at Women’s T20 World Cups.

While Bernadine Bezuidenhout, Amelia Kerr and Sophie Devine lost their wickets, Maddy Green starred with an unbeaten 44 from 20 balls that helped New Zealand set up a huge target.

In the chase, Murshida Khatun who scored 30, and Shorna Akter who managed 31, were the best batswomen for Bangladesh.

Eden Carson starred with ball for New Zealand, picking up three for 18 as Bangladesh fell 71 runs short.

Skipper Hayley Matthews produced a superb bating performance to help West Indies bag the points.

Despite Orla Prendergast's half-century, West Indies bowlers recovered well to restrict Ireland to just 138.

Matthews forged a crucial partnership with Chinelle Henry, scoring an unbeaten 66, after Rashada Williams, Shemaine Campbelle and Shabika Gajnabi lost their wickets, to help her team to victory.
