Olympic silver medallist Emma Hinze picked up the fourth continental title of her career with a narrow victory in Grenchen, Switzerland, in the women's 500 metres time trial with a time of 32.947sec.

She was followed across the line by Frenchwoman Taky Marie-Divine Kouamé, in 33.390, and The Netherlands Hetty van de Wouw after 33.554.

Hinze's compatriot and Tokyo 2020 champion Franziska Brauße then sealed Germany's fifth win of the Championships in the individual pursuit.

The 24-year-old completed the circuit in 3min 20.101sec to beat Britain's Josie Knight and countrywoman Mieke Kröger on times of 3:23.613 and 3:24.895, respectively.

Anita Stenberg's score of 56 saw her win the last women's event of the day from Belgian Shari Bossuyt on 42 and the 34 points of France's Marie Le Net.

Harrie Lavreysen cruised to his eighth European gold with victory in the final of the men's sprint.

The Dutchman eased into the final before seeing off the challenge of Poland's Mateusz Rudyk, winning the first race by 0.0083 and the second by 0.146.

Bronze went to Rayan Helal of France who was a 2-0 winner over Israeli Mikhail Yakovlev.

France's Benjamin Thomas held off a spirited challenge from Simone Consonni to claim gold in the men’s omnium.

Thomas triumphed with 162 points, with Italian Consonni scoring 146 and Britain's Will Perrett claiming bronze with 136 points.

The Championships are due to conclude tomorrow with the final golds set to be won in the men's and women's keirin and madison events.
