The recent Friuli Venezia Giulia 2023 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) generated nearly 500,000 views from January 21 to 28.

Throughout the weeklong event, every moment was captured on the European Olympic Committees (EOC) EOC TV service.

"I am delighted with the streaming figures achieved at the EYOF Friuli Venezia Giulia 2023," said EOC President Spyros Capralos.

"Compared to Vuokatti 2022 just one year ago, views were up by over 350,000!

"The festivals have always been a popular sporting event, which also offers a valuable educational experience for young athletes, but we are now able to offer them exposure like never before."

In addition to the near half a million views, there were almost 100,000 unique viewers and 64,000 hours of live action watched.

"We have proved the EOC TV is offering additional opportunities and benefits not only to our athletes but also our events, making them more attractive to potential commercial opportunities," said EOC secretary general Raffaele Pagnozzi.

Friuli Venezia Giulia 2023 was the second time that Italy had hosted the Winter Festival, following Aosta 1993.

The region also staged the 2005 Summer EYOF.

France topped the medals table in last month's event with seven gold, six silver and four bronze.

Hosts Italy finished second with 21 medals overall but got only six gold medals while Switzerland were the third-best nation with 12 overall and six gold medals.

Footage from the Festival and other EOC events is still available to be watched on demand at EOC TV.
