French media group L’Équipe has been granted exclusive domestic rights to broadcast the Paris 2023 World Para Athletics Championships.

Scheduled to take place from July 8 to 17 this year, the Championships will be broadcast on the company's website, mobile app, and its digital platforms including the L’Équipe Live 1 and 2 channels.

On the app, a section will be created specifically for fans to follow live results.

A total of 28 hours of live action will be offered alongside a daily highlights show.

"These World Championships are part of the major international sports events over the coming months, in the same vein as the Rugby World Cup, the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games in Paris," said Laurent Prud’homme, managing director of Groupe L’Équipe, as reported by Sport Business.

"L'Équipe will engage all its media - site, application, newspaper, magazine, television, social networks - to cover this Para sport competition, the most important after the Paralympic Games.

"More generally, it is the role of L'Équipe, the leader in sports information, to promote and showcase Para sport and to present the future stars of the Paris 2024 Games to as many people as possible."

It is set to be the 10th edition of the event and is due to be held in the Charléty Stadium in the capital's 13th arrondissement.

The venue has hosted World Para Athletics Grand Prix events since 2017.

Paris was announced as the host city in December 2021, making it the third French host after Lille in 2002 and Lyon in 2013.

No other country has hosted on three occasions, with Britain being the only other nation to stage it twice.

The city is also due to host the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games next year from August 28 to September 8, following the Olympics from July 26 to August 11.
