Legendary Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt is reportedly missing millions of dollars from an account with an investment firm.

The eight-time Olympic champion's manager Nugent Walker said that Bolt had noticed discrepancies with his accounts on Wednesday (January 11), with Jamaica’s Financial Investigations Division and Financial Services Commission launching an investigation.

"All the relevant steps have been taken to come to the bottom of this," Walker told Jamaican newspaper The Gleaner.

"He's been with this entity over 10 years.

"His entire portfolio is being reviewed."

The funds were located in an account with Jamaican investment firm Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL), who have reportedly called the police in relation to the case.

Walker did not specify the amount of money missing from Bolt's account.

However, The Gleaner reported that a former SSL employee has been implicated in widespread fraud, which may partly relate to the developments involving Bolt.

Lawyer Tamika Harris, representing the former employee, said that her client had engaged in legal discussions for about two weeks.

"My client is in discussion with SSL and the lawyers representing SSL," Harris told The Gleaner.

Bolt is widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes of all time, and is the only sprinter to have won three consecutive Olympic gold medals in the men's 100 metres and 200m from Beijing 2008 to Rio 2016.

He also won men's 4x100m relay golds at London 2012 and Rio 2016, but Jamaica were stripped of their success in the same race at Beijing 2008 due to a positive doping test by Nesta Carter.

Bolt holds world records in the 100m and 200m, set at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin.

They are included among his 11 gold medals at the World Championships, making him the most successful athlete in the event's history.

Bolt, now aged 36, retired from athletics in 2017.

He is one of the highest-earning stars in his sport's history, amassing $33 million (£27 million/€30 million) through sponsorship, prize money and appearance fees in 2016 alone.
