A total of €320,821 (£283,000/$344,000) has been given for 10 projects from 202 applications, which focus on gender equality, education, health and the inclusion of people with disabilities.

These applications came from 35 African nations.

The Selection Committee was made up of representatives from Paris 2024, AFD and experts from organisations such as the Guild, Sport en commun, the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, Plan International, Play International, the Decathlon Foundation and the Société Générale Foundation.

Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Morocco, Uganda, Senegal and Togo were the successful recipients.

Kenya has been given two of these projects - one focusing on building new pitches and one for girls' boxing.

Senegal's three projects cover social integration combined with rugby, and promoting sport among young people in Dialaw to help to improve environmental education, and one about local development through Olympism.

In Cameroon, a socio-sport project for young people in Edéa is to be rolled out, Ivory Coast has had a visually-impaired sports initiative approved, while gender equality and youth development in rugby is the focus in Morocco.

Togo's initiative is set to work on basketball development, while Uganda's project is about using sport to reduce teen pregnancies in the Kasese District.

Some of these projects are subject to anti-money laundering and financing of terrorism due diligence.

In total, 17 countries have been assisted through the initiative now in its three editions so far - Benin, South Africa, Algeria, Ghana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Tunisia and Tanzania.

The next call for applications is on January 16.

"After a successful partnership to support athlete-entrepreneurs with impact projects, Paris 2024 and AFD are once again teaming up to promote the legacy of the Paris 2024 Games in Africa through the 'Impact 2024 International' call for projects," said Paris 2024 President Tony Estanguet. 

"Thanks to the 32 projects supported, sport and its benefits will be used to promote health, education, inclusion and gender equality in 17 countries. 

"We look forward to the opening of the latest edition of the call for projects on January 16."

The deadline for the fourth round of applications is February 13.

Projects must take place in Africa and all 54 countries from there are eligible.
