The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has released an anti-doping document featuring multiple instances of players genders being listed incorrectly.

In its 2021 player-by-player testing summary, multiple high-profile players are shown as listed as the incorrect gender throughout the 36-page document.

Examples include on page one where Canada’s Bianca Andreescu, the 2019 US Open women’s singles champion is listed as male.

On page two Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, currently playing as a neutral due to the country’s invasion of Ukraine, winner of the 2012 and 2013 Australian Open women’s singles titles, is listed as male.

On page three Italy’s Matteo Berrettini, the runner-up in the men’s singles at last year’s Wimbledon Championships is listed as female.

Wimbledon finalist in 2014 Eugenie Bouchard of Canada is then listed as male on page four.

Further down on page 22, Spain’s Rafael Nadal, winner of a record 22 Grand Slam titles, is listed as female, as is old rival, Britain's Britain’s Sir Andy Murray.

Analysis of the document appears to show a pattern of four players in a row listed as male, then one as female, one as male and one as female, before the pattern resumes with four players listed as male, regardless of their actual gender.

Romanian media have questioned whether the evidence related to certain players is also incorrect, due to Simona Halep, the 2018 French Open and 2019 Wimbledon champion, being listed as male.

Halep received a provisional suspension from the International Tennis Integrity Agency in October 2021 after testing positive for roxadustat, from a sample she provided while competing at the US Open in August.

Halep said afterwards that the positive test for roxadustat came as "the biggest shock of my life."

The ITF did not respond to insidethegames request for a comment on the document.
