The Japan Anti-Doping Agency (JADA) held the hybrid event which was commissioned and supported by the Japan Sports Agency with this year's theme being "re-uniting the clean sport community and preserving the values of sport."

Japanese State Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Ide Yosei, who is also on the WADA Executive Committee, welcomed the guests along with JADA chair Akama Takao.

Later on the first day, WADA President Witold Bańka delivered a speech in which he promoted international cooperation in the region.

"WADA has always recognised the importance of partnerships in the pursuit of clean sport, and the JADA and the Government of Japan are key partners for us," he said.

"Japan has been very supportive of national and regional anti-doping organisation development over the years, and I am delighted that JADA's influence will continue to be felt around the region for years to come.

"It is a great opportunity to listen to one another, strengthen existing connections, build new relationships and reflect on our role as leaders of the anti-doping movement. 

"I am pleased to see many Governments, sports organisations and national anti-doping organisations of the Asia and Oceania regions working together, with WADA's support, for the good of the overall system."

WADA vice-president Yang Yang featured on an athlete panel to promote the Play True message, which is a push for clean sport and calls for organisations to assist athletes with anti-doping education.

Olivier Niggli, WADA director general, also delivered a detailed presentation that aimed to continue improving anti-doping internationally through WADA's strategic plan, that runs up until 2024.

WADA Asia/Oceania director Kazuhiro Hayashi, general counsel Ross Wenzel, director of testing Tim Ricketts and associate director of compliance, rules and standards, Kevin Haynes also spoke during the two-day event.
