European Olympic Committees (EOC) representatives have met in Rome to discuss strategies on how best to highlight athletes competing at the Kraków-Małopolska 2023 European Games.

EOC secretary general Raffaele Pagnozzi, chair of the Coordination Commission Hasan Arat, President of the Organising Committee Marcin Nowak, and head of strategy and business operations for the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) Jean-Baptiste Casta met at the governing body's headquarters in Rome.

The EBU is due to broadcast the European Games in what Arat hopes will be world-class coverage.

Casta informed delegates of the EBU's direct-to-consumer plans and how it would help to produce content for social media, archival footage and highlight reels.

"We strongly believe that the best athletes in Europe, competing at the biggest multi-sport event on the continent since the Olympic Games London 2012, deserve coverage of the highest quality," said Arat.

"Together with my colleagues, we are working hard to ensure that this becomes a reality.

"Our agreement with the EBU will enable us to share all the unforgettable moments from the event across a variety of digital platforms.

"We are committed to delivering coverage of the Games that highlights the spectacular ability of our athletes, as well as displaying the passion and energy of the fans that will be in attendance in Poland."

Delegates then emphasised the importance of having a clear strategy for the promotion of broadcast schedules to ensure that fans know exactly when events will take place.

There is little more than six months to go until the start of an event which is due to run from June 21 until July 2, with 25 sports on the programme.
