International Olympic Committee (IOC) vice-president Ng Ser Miang has thanked the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) on behalf of his organisation for its contribution to staging the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

The Singaporean official was at the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF) General Assembly in Lausanne where he presented IBSF and AIOWF President Ivo Ferriani with an original Torch from the Games in China.

"Our thanks go to the IOC and its staff and also to the Beijing Winter Olympic Games Organising Committee," said Ferriani.

"It was an outstanding achievement to hold the Winter Games as planned and with precision and quality under the circumstances of the pandemic."

The bobsleigh and skeleton competitions took place from February 10 to 20 at the Yanqing National Sliding Centre.

Germany dominated proceedings and claimed five gold medals out of a possible six.

The venue is due to host IBSF World Cup events for the next five years after a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the global governing body and the Chinese Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association.

However, it was left off this season's schedule.

Ferriani was re-elected unopposed at the AIOWF General Assembly.

He was first elected during an online meeting in 2020 when he replaced Gian-Franco Kasper, the former President of the International Ski Federation, who retired from the position having only served half of his last term.
