Egypt's run of success continued on the second day of the African Karate Championships in Durban as their young athletes added seven more titles to the 10 secured buy senior, junior and cadet competitors on day one.

Karim Ahmed and Omar Metwaly won cadet titles in the kumite male under-63 kilograms and kumite male +70kg respectively at the Olive Convention Centre.

In female junior competition, Ganna Aly and Rahma Tolba became respective African champions in the kumite under-48kg and kumite under-59kg.

In the men’s junior section, there were victories for Mohamed Hany Nasser at under-55kg, Youssef Farag in the under-76kg category, and Omar Osman in the +76kg class.

Morocco added three golds to their tally thanks to Roumayssae Tarkou in the cadet kumite male under-47kg category while Samir Sadini won the cadet kumite male under-57kg gold and the title in the junior kumite male under-68kg class went to Mohamed-Amine Badjou. 

Tunisia also celebrated three gold medals.

Mayssa Ksantini became continental champion in the cadet kumite female under-54kg class, while Mohaned Rahmouni dominated the cadet kumite male under-70kg class. 

Mariem Taleb won the junior kumite female +59kg title.

Salma Hafed of Libya won the crown in cadet kumite female +54kg while Ala Eddine Kichou of Algeria prevailed in cadet kumite male under-52kg.

Algerian representatives added more titles in junior categories with the gold in kumite female under-53kg going to Kenza Yahiaoui and the kumite male under-61kg going to Mohamed Anis Saadi.

In the team competition, the titles were claimed by Algeria in female team kata and female team kumite and Morocco won the male team kata and male team kumite.
