Italian Sophia Goggia bagged gold again during the second downhill race at the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Alpine Ski World Cup in Lake Louise.

The reigning champion crossed the line in 1min 28.96sec to beat Nina Ortlieb of Austria by 0.34sec.

With another win, Goggia now has 14 career World Cup downhill victories.

The bronze medal went to Corinne Suter of Switzerland.

She finished 0.03sec behind second place Ortlieb.

"Today was a quite perfect run," said Goggia.

"There was a lot of wind at the start.

"We had to be focused and committed today.

"I skied the perfect run I wanted to in my head.

"The last two years were unbelievable for me here.

"Here I broke my knee in 2013 and in 2016 got my first podium in the speed circuit here.

"And now winning five in a row is incredible.

"It is sad we won’t race here again but I think FIS will find a good replacement."

Suter’s Swiss teammate Joana Haehlen finished fourth.

She clocked 1:29.55 while Ilka Ĺ tuhec of Slovenia rounded off the top-five, crossing the line in 1:29.92.
