The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) has announced the winners of its 2020 and 2022 Team USA Collegiate Impact Awards.

These honour the top-performing schools representing the US at the Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 Games.

For Tokyo 2020 Stanford University took the Olympic gold award, providing 35 Olympians who won 19 medals, with the silver award going to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) - 21 Olympians and 14 medals - and bronze going to the University of Florida, whose 14 Olympians accrued 10 medals.

The Paralympic gold award went to the University of Illinois, which provided 20 Paralympians and nine medals.

For this year's Winter Games the Olympic gold award went to the University of Minnesota, which provided 12 US Olympians and eight medallists.

The Olympic silver award went to the University of Wisconsin with five Olympians and five medals, and bronze went to Boston College, whose five Olympians gained three medals.

The Paralympic gold award went to the University of New Hampshire, whose four Paralympians earned a total of four medals.

The eight inductees will be presented with their awards at the National Football Foundation's 64th Annual Awards celebration in Las Vegas on December 6.

"The collegiate athletics system is essential to growing and keeping sport strong in our country," said USOPC chief executive Sarah Hirshland.

"Athletes who competed collegiately were the foundation of Team USA’s success in Tokyo and Beijing.

"We’re excited to honour the leaders who foster these sport opportunities and support student-athletes on campus."
