The Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) has introduced a new expenses policy for its Council members, employees, contractors and third parties.

This was approved by the ASOIF Council at its final meeting of the year, and the umbrella body claimed that it would enhance its governance and transparency.

It applies to relevant officials when travelling on ASOIF business, and covers "reasonable and authorised expenses" incurred while representing the organisation, including travel days.

ASOIF President Francesco Ricci Bitti and Council members are entitled to a full board stay in hotels and travel in business class on flights and first class on trains.

Executive director Andrew Ryan can travel in business class on flights and first class on trains, but is only entitled to breakfast in accommodation.

He is also granted a CHF 120 (£105/$121/€122) per day allowance for other expenses including meals, local taxis, phone calls, parking, Wi-Fi and laundry.

ASOIF staff are eligible for breakfast in accommodation and a CHF 120 per day allowance, but should travel in economy class except on longer journeys.

For flights of more than seven hours, they can travel in premium economy or business on flights by agreement, and on train journeys of more than 90 minutes can travel in first class.

Travel by train, bus or plane is preferred to car, for which journeys can only be approved by the executive director or deputy executive director at a kilometre allowance of CHF 0.83 (£0.72/$0.83/€0.84) up to the price quoted for public transport.

Insurance, visas and inoculations where required on ASOIF trips are also covered under the policy.

Personal business expenses, any fines or parking tickets, club memberships or travel lounges, stolen items and expenses of private guests are not covered under the policy.

All claims are required to be made within 30 days.

ASOIF has also published a breakdown of revenue share distributed to International Federations from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and the Council approved new internal financial rules.
