South Korean Lee Gun-hyeok narrowly won individual gold at the World Shooting Championships in Cairo while Germany, China, and Norway also claimed team titles.

Lee triumphed over Frenchman Clement Bessaguet in the men's 25 metres rapid fire pistol final by 31 points to 30.

Pakistan's Ghulam Mustafa Bashir won bronze while another South Korean in Lee Jae-kyoon finished fourth in the decider after the latter lost a shootout 8-6.

The eventual winner got off to a shaky start, missing two of five shots in the first round, but was then only off target once in the subsequent 25 attempts.

The impressive streak was crucial in securing victory as he missed six of the last 10 shots but it was just enough for gold.

Henrik Larsen, Simon Clausse, and Jon-Hermann Hegg of Germany were triumphant in the men's 50m rifle three positions team tournament after they beat France's Michael Dhalluin, Lucas Kryzs, and Brian Baudouin 16-12 in the gold medal match.

China's Chen Yan, Liu Rui, and Jiaruixuan Xiao then thrashed Manu Bhaker, Rhythm Sangwan, and Abhidnya Patil 16-0 in the women's 25m pistol team final.

They were joined on the podium by Doreen Vennekamp, Monika Karsch, and Michelle Skeries of Germany as they beat Hungarians Veronika Major, Zsofia Csonka, and Sara Fabian 17-5.

The bronze medallists' compatriots Jolyn Beer, Lisa Müller, and Anna Janssen followed that up with gold in the women's 50m rifle three position team final.

The trio dispatched Switzerland's Sarina Hitz, Franziska Stark, and Nina Christen 16-4 after China's Zhang Qiongyue, Shi Mengyao, and Miao Wanru beat Norwegians Johanna Reksten, Jenny Stene, and Jeanette Duestad 17-7 in the bronze-medal match.

Competition is set to continue tomorrow with team finals in the mixed 50m three positions rifle, men's 25m rapid fire pistol, and mixed 50m pistol tournaments.
