Hosts Mexico are to play Lithuania in the first-ever Baseball5 World Cup match.

Mexico City is due to stage the inaugural tournament from November 7 to 13 and the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) has now revealed the groups and full schedule.

South Africa, Japan, Cuba and Hong Kong join Mexico and Lithuania in Group A.

France, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, Kenya, Venezuela and wildcard Tunisia are in Group B.

Lithuania and Mexico are due to meet in the only game of day one, which will follow an Opening Ceremony.

Action ramps up after that, with 12 games a day planned on November 9 and November 11.

November 13 is reserved for the final and a bronze-medal match.

Fifty games are planned in all.

Baseball5 is a pitcher-free discipline which requires only a rubber ball to play and no bat, so is designed to bring baseball to previously inaccessible areas.

Any playing surface can be used, hitting is done by hand and teams are of mixed gender.

It is due to be played at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, as well as other multi-sport events including next year's African Beach Games and Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.

The Zócalo, Mexico City's main square, is to be the backdrop for the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup.
