Three women's races took place on day five and the Danish sailor secured seven-place finish then back-to-back wins to leapfrog Belgian reigning champion Emma Plasschaert, who mostly struggled with finishes of sixth, 12th and 14th .

Rindom's stellar performance meant she moved onto 36 net points while Plasschaert - the winner of the 2018 and 2021 world titles - jumped to 55 net points.

Hungary's Mári Érdi, a two-time Olympian, is a point below in third and is on the same score as Swiss Olympian Maud Jayet.

Érdi recorded finishes of 5th, 17th and ninth while Jayet concluded her races in second, 19th and seventh, although her highest result was discarded.

Maxime Jonker of The Netherlands was the other race winner on the day, but she is not in a position to compete for the title as she sits eighth.

Rindom explained to International Laser Class Association's website that the "conditions were absolutely perfect" as she reflected on the day's action.

"I think it was actually one of the easier days at this regatta where it’s been more stable breeze, a little bit more space, and a little bit more hiking," Rindom said.

"[Tomorrow] I think I'm actually just going to try and stay out of trouble and sail my own races."

In the men's event - which is, unlike the women's, a non-Olympic discipline - American Peter Bernard remains on top as he has done since day one.

Compatriots Hamilton Barclay and William Baker follow in second and third.

The ILCA 6 World Championships concludes tomorrow.
