England have named two uncapped teenagers in their T20 squad for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Allrounder Alice Capsey and left arm seamer Freya Kemp, both 17-years-old, take their place in a 15 player squad named by head coach Lisa Keightley.

Fast medium bowler Issy Wong of Birmingham Phoenix wins her place after a successful England international debut against South Africa last month, but has yet to play a T20 international.

"It’s really surreal to be picked to play for Team England in a Commonwealth Games in my home city," Wong said.

"I can’t really put into words how much it means, you grow up watching events like the Commonwealth Games and it’s the kind of thing that inspires you to get outside and play sport, It’s a huge honour,"

The squad also includes Sophia Dunkley who followed up her maiden international century last week with 51 at Leicester today.

The side is led by Heather Knight who skippered England to victory in the 2017 International Cricket Council World Cup.

"It’s such a huge opportunity and the thought of potentially being able to medal is so exciting," Knight said.

"We’re so excited to get to Birmingham and get going,"

Fellow 2017 World Cup winners Nat Sciver, Katherine Brunt and Danni Wyatt have also been selected.

There is no place for opener Tammy Beaumont, another 2017 World Cup veteran.

Beaumont was left out because her T20 strike rate is considered too low, but she struck another century in today's one day international against South Africa.

England are set to play a three match T20 series against South Africa beginning on Thursday (July 21) at Chelmsford before travelling to Birmingham.

Their first match in the Commonwealth Games tournament is scheduled to be in Group B against Sri Lanka at Edgbaston Cricket Ground on July 30.

South Africa and New Zealand are in the same qualifying pool as England.
