Venezuela maintained their 100 per cent record at the Copa América Femenina, while Argentina picked up a second heavy win in succession.

Playing in the first of two games today at Armenia's Estadio Centenario in Colombia, Argentina trashed Uruguay 5-0 thanks in no small part to Yamila Rodríguez.

Rodríguez scored a hat-trick to go level with Brazil's Adriana at the top of the tournament's scoring chart, now boasting four goals.

The hat-trick came in the space of 18 devastating second-half minutes and put the game beyond Uruguay's reach, after Estefanía Banini had given Argentina a half-time lead.

Eliana Stábile added goal number five in stoppage time.

Venezuela then beat Peru 2-0 at the same venue, with Deyna Castellanos and Oriana Altuve finding the net either side of the interval.

Venezuela now have six points from two games, having faced pointless Uruguay and Peru, and are yet to concede a goal.

Argentina have six points from three games and are second in Group B, above Venezuela on goal difference.

Brazil - like Venezuela with six points from two games - have a superior goal difference so lead the pool.

Argentina and Venezuela are due to meet in the final Group B game on July 21, which promises to be key in deciding who advances to the semi-finals.

This tournament offers qualification for both the 2023 FIFA World Cup and Paris 2024 Olympics.
