Defending champions Brazil have ended the round robin phase of the Men's Volleyball Nations League with a win against hosts Japan in Osaka.

The Brazilians achieved a three-set victory against their Pool Five opponents, winning 25-23, 25-23, 25-22.

The result means that they finish joint-sixth overall with Japan.

Olympic gold medallists France secured fourth after beating Australia 25-16, 25-12, 28-26 in the same pool.

The other Pool Five result saw the United States beat Argentina 29-27, 22-25, 20-25, 25-13, 17-15.

The United States concluded the phase in third.

In Pool Six, Italy topped the rankings after securing a 25-23, 26-24, 25-21 victory against The Netherlands in Gdańsk, Poland.

Poland celebrated a home triumph thanks to a 25-14, 25-23, 23-25, 25-17 win against Slovenia to finish second.

Serbia achieved a 25-17, 25-17, 23-25, 25-22 triumph over China.

Iran came seventh while The Netherlands finished eighth, meaning both teams have progressed to the quarter-finals.

Top seeds Italy are set to play the Dutch while Japan are due to face a re-match against France on July 20.

Brazil and the United States are scheduled to meet, while Iran are set to face Poland on July 21.
