Italian Federico Musolesi and Leyre Fernandez Infante of Spain claimed the individual archery gold medals at the Oran 2022 Mediterranean Games.

In the men's draw, Musolesi came from behind against Turkey's Mete Gazoz to take a 6-4 victory at the Stade Annexe Complexe Olympique.

The Italian took a 2-0 lead after the first set with a 25-23 win but two fantastic rounds from Gazoz brought him 4-2 in front.

Musolesi, who won bronze at the 2021 Paris World Cup, took the remaining sets to clinch the title.

Triple Olympic medallist Mauro Nespoli of Italy beat Frenchman Nicolas Bernardi 7-3 to win bronze.

The 34-year-old won team gold at London 2012, team silver at Beijing 2008, and was individual runner-up at Tokyo 2020.

Olympic bronze medallist from last year's postponed Olympics Lucilla Boari fell to a heavy 7-1 loss at the hands of Fernandez in the women's individual final.

The pair drew the first set 24-24 before Fernandez ran away with it and secured the win in the fourth set to prematurely end the match.

Anaëlle Florent of France dispatched Turkey's Ezgi Basaran 7-3 to make up the top three.

Basaran was on the winning end of the women's team final alongside Yasemin Anagoz and Gulnaz Coskun.

The trio beat Italy's Tatiana Andreoli, Chiara Rebagliati, and Boari 5-3 in the decider after France wrapped up bronze ahead of Greece.

Anagoz secured her second gold of the day with Gazoz in the mixed team as the pair crept past Boari and Nespoli 5-3 while Spain won bronze and Greece missed out again.

Iban Bariteaud, Romain Fichet, and Bernardi of France got the better of Spain's Pablo Acha, Miguel Alvarino Garcia, and Daniel Castro in the men's team by a 6-2 score line while Turkey pipped Italy to bronze.
