Poland's Iga Świątek and teenage sensation Coco Gauff of the United States swept through the French Open women's singles semi-finals with straight-sets victories at Roland Garros to set up a deciding clash on Saturday (June 4).

World number one seed Świątek's winning streak hit 34 after she dispatched number 20 seed Daria Kasatkina 6-2, 6-1 in just 64 minutes to reach her second Roland Garros final.

Świątek is now tied for the second-longest winning run of the century with American Serena Williams, while victory for the 21-year-old in the decider would equal Williams' sister Venus' record of 35 straight wins set in 2000.

For the first four games, the match was evenly posed.

Świątek had drawn first blood, taking her fourth break point to move to a 2-0 advantage but Kasatkina had responded with smart yet aggressive winners to level the score.

Serving at 2-3, 15-30, Kasatkina was shaping up to finish a forehand sitter when a gust of wind caught the ball and sent it way over the baseline.

Minutes later, Świątek launched a forehand winner to go up a break again, and she never looked back winning five straight games to take the first set.

The Pole then produced another five-game streak, taking 20 out of the last 23 points of the match.

All in all, it was a commanding performance from Świątek who tallied 22 winners to 13 unforced errors, taking her total of winners at Roland Garros this year to 140.

She also landed 70% of her first serves, and won 79% of those points.

Stopping the fairy-tale run of unseeded Martina Trevisan, 18-year-old Gauff is the youngest player to reach the final in Paris since Belgian Kim Clijsters in 2001.

The American has not dropped a set in her six wins so far and lost just four games against the Italian in 68 minutes.

After a tight opening six games in which the players traded service breaks twice, Gauff won nine of the last 10 games to take a 6-3, 6-1 victory and end Trevisan's 10-match winning streak.
