The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has begun a leadership training programme at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, designed to spread knowledge of "Olympic Principles".

The course attracted 26 participants, drawn from departmental managers at the QOC and is being held for the second time.

It has been led by Dr. Mona Babti from the Department of Excellence Center For Training and Consulting and Dr.Ashraf Al Saqa Matar, a training expert and media consultant.

It aims to set up organisational networks and build human relations at the QOC.

The course is also designed to share information on how to "manage challenges and establish a formative identity” for QOC staff and how to "enhance a global concept through a Qatari identity".

Presentations have also focused on achieving international goals by understanding how others think.

Qatar is set to host the FIFA World Cup later this year and Doha has already been chosen to stage the Asian Games in 2030.

It has also consistently expressed interest in hosting the Olympic and Paralympics and is expected to bid for the 2036 Games.

Organisers claim the meetings this week have adopted "a creative, interactive and different style," to achieve their objectives.

"This training course will help me to think through the mentality of others," QOC Knowledge Management Unit head Lolwa Al Kuwari said after taking part.

"I have a true chance to transfer these new creative ideas into my work environment and that is why I could help everyone to serve the interest of QOC,"

At the end of this course, the participants will be asked to submit an integrated work project titled "My Global Qatari Identity," which organisers hope "will build an advanced criteria that will reflect the Qatari identity globally".

The five-day course is due to end tomorrow.
