American world champion Natalia Grossman was tied at the top of women's boulder qualifying at her home International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Cup in Salt Lake City.

Grossman scored five tops and five zones in Group A, a feat match by Franziska Sterrer of Austria in Group B at the Pioneer Park venue.

France's Oriane Bertone and Japan's Olympic silver medallist Miho Nonaka both notched four tops and five zones to place third.

Four other American climbers reached the semi-finals, with Cloe Coscoy, Kylie Cullen, and Brooke Raboutou achieving four tops and five zones, and Adriene Clark with three and five.

Men's boulder qualifying was also held today, with Germany's Yannick Flohé and Tomoa Narasaki of Japan taking top spots in Groups A and B, respectively, with five tops and five zones.

Austria's Nicolai Uznik was second in Group A with five tops and five zones but a higher number of attempts than Flohé, as was the United States' Sean Bailey in Group B.

Narasaki, a three-time gold medallist at the World Championships, led a group of five Japanese athletes who qualified for the semi-finals.

Bailey was one of four Americans who progressed at the home IFSC World Cup.

Competition is due to conclude Cup tomorrow with the boulder semi-finals and finals.
