Parapan American Games medallist Maria Teresa Restrepo has claimed her second gold on day two of the Para Deportivo National Shooting Open in Nilo in Colombia.

Following a successful round of mixed 50m rifle prone SH1 qualifiers in the morning, the Colombian repeated her finals success by comfortably taking the gold medal.

Compatriot Gabriel Cardona marked his achievement of being the longest-serving athlete of the Colombian Paralympic Committee by securing silver.

Carlos Garletti of Brazil picked up bronze.

"Competing and doing a good job allows me to feel comfortable," Cardona said.

"This silver medal represents discipline and effort.

"I'm happy I won it."

Meanwhile, Argentina’s María Rodriquez was victorious in the mixed 10m air rifle prone SH2 - the other title showdown of the day - after fending off Colombia’s César Durán.

The fight for bronze was close with Colombia’s Jerson Mejía beating compatriot Carlos Rodriquez to last the podium spot.

Mejía totalled 618.9, which was a single decimal point more than his opponent.

The competition is expected to continue tomorrow.
