Olympic champion Alberto Fernández of Spain and Italy's Gaia Ragazzini secured men’s and women’s trap victories at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shotgun World Cup in Lima.

Fernández beat Erminio Frasca of Italy in a shoot-off in the final, taking advantage of a Frasca mistake.

Fernández won a gold medal in the trap mixed team event at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo alongside compatriot Fátima Gálvez.

American Derrick Mein won his first ISSF medal by finishing third in Peru's capital.

Mexican Jorge Martín Orozco Diaz placed fourth in the final.

Among women, the youngest participant in the final, Ragazzini, took her first senior ISSF medal.

The 21-year-old secured a 30-27 victory over Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Kayle Browning of the United States.

Ragazzini's compatriot Alessandra Della Valle took bronze with India's Shagun Chowdhary fourth.

Italy won three medals in total across the day's competition.

A total of 137 athletes from 27 nations are taking part in the ISSF Shotgun World Cup, which is scheduled to run until April 6 at Las Palmas Shooting Range.

The competition is due to continue tomorrow with trap team events.
