Aleksander Aamodt Kilde was crowned the crystal globe winner in the men's super-G after winning the penultimate race in the 2021-2022 International Ski Federation Alpine Ski World Cup season, with the latest leg being on home snow at Kvitfjell.

The Norwegian crossed the line in what ended up being a close finish between the top three - clocking a time of 1min 25.91sec.

Canadian James Crawford - who was a surprise bronze medallist in the Alpine combined at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games and fourth in the downhill - took his maiden World Cup podium, missing the race win by 0.07sec.

Completing the podium was the super-G Olympic champion Matthias Mayer of Austria, who was another five hundredths of a second behind.

Scoring the maximum 100 points and finishing 40 points in front of Mayer, Kilde took the super-G title with one race remaining, with the skiers having 480 and 350 points respectively.

Friday's (March 4) downhill winner and bronze medallist Niels Hintermann was ninth, making it the third Swiss in the top 10, which was completed by Romed Baumann of Germany.

Flachau in Austria is scheduled to hold the next leg of the men's Alpine Ski World Cup on Wednesday (March 9).
