Two slalom races are due to be held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany this weekend, at the first men’s Alpine Ski World Cup race since the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

All three Beijing 2022 medallists are included among the start list - gold medallist Clément Noël of France, silver medallist Johannes Strolz of Austria and bronze medallist Sebastian Foss-Solevåag of Norway.

The slalom World Cup standings are currently led by Norway’s Lucas Braathen with 257 points, with compatriot Foss-Solevåag his closest challenger on 220 points, and the pair both line-up in Germany.

In the overall men’s Alpine Ski World Cup standings Marco Odermatt of Switzerland has the lead, however none of his points have come in the slalom discipline.

In total, 72 skiers are set to contest the first of the two slalom competitions tomorrow (Saturday) over two runs, with a second competition then scheduled for Sunday (February 27).
