Changwon has reached an agreement to stage World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS) World Cup events for the first time from 2022 through to 2025.

An annual World Cup is to be held at the Changwon International Shooting Range for the next four years under the deal, which is WSPS's first multi-year hosting agreement.

This season's World Cup has been scheduled for August 15 to 26.

The shooting range is a legacy venue from when the South Korean city staged the International Shooting Sport Federation World Championships in 2018.

WSPS senior manager Tyler Anderson believes Changwon is well-suited to holding a World Cup.

"We are extremely pleased to announce the Changwon World Cup as our first multi-year hosting agreement," Anderson commented.

"The World Cup represents a stable competition in Asia and a return to one of our strongest shooting Para sport countries.

"We would like to thank the Korean Shooting Federation for the Disabled for their invaluable support and we look forward to welcoming the world’s best to the Changwon International Shooting Range in August."

South Korea has previously held the WSPS World Championships in its capital Seoul in 2002 and Cheongju in 2018.

Châteauroux in France is due to host this year's opening World Cup from June 4 to 13, followed by Munich from July 12 to 20.

Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates has been awarded hosting rights for this year's WSPS World Championships from November 3 to 17.

The Châteauroux World Cup and the World Championships in Al Ain are expected to serve as qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
