The 23-year-old was slow out of the gate as he produced the fourth best jump in Austria.

A distance of 133.5 metres saw him amass 137.6 points.

But Lindvik roared back in the second round, recording the furthest jump of the competition of 139m to secure 154.1 points and a total score of 291.7.

Halvor Egner Granerud made it a Norwegian one-two with his consistent performances.

Jumps of 133.5 and 136m were the third best attempts in both rounds and saw him earn 287.7 points overall, securing the silver medal.

Austria's Jan Hoerl rounded out the top three with a score of 285.7 to deny the season's overall standings leader Ryoyu Kobayashi of Japan a place on the podium.

Kobayashi began as expected and looked good value to compete for his sixth win of the season.

But a calamitous performance in the second round saw him place tenth with 140.2 points on his way to 282.3 points in total.

Kobayashi remains in the lead on the overall standings with 891 points despite the disappointing showing.

This was helped in part by Germany's Karl Geiger, who occupies second place with 817 points, as he finished eighth.

Granerud is third with 693 points at the halfway stage of the season, with 14 of the 28 events completed.

The action continues tomorrow in Bischofshofen with the men's team event before athletes travel to Zakopane in Poland for the next stop of the season.
